Where We Go
Mobile Safety Certificates Across Southeast Queensland
A motorcycle safety certificate — also known as a roadworthy certificate, RWC, or road worthy — is an official Queensland document confirming your motorcycle meets the state's minimum road safety standards. It's required when selling a registered motorcycle, transferring registration, re-registering after non-use, or bringing an interstate motorcycle into Queensland. Inspections are conducted per the Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual (QLVIM) by a licensed AIS inspector.
Absolutely not — if it has two wheels (or three), we'll inspect it, regardless of age. Classic motorcycles, vintage bikes, pre-war machines, period racers, collector bikes — all welcome. There are no age restrictions. The inspection covers all safety-related items as required by the QLVIM for that vehicle type, regardless of year of manufacture.
Our inspectors assess all safety-related items as required by the Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual (QLVIM) for motorcycle safety certificates. See the TMR website for the complete standards framework.
Modified bikes are welcome. A safety certificate can be issued if the bike complies with the relevant standards — best to book in and our inspector will let you know on the day. Click here to book →
Aftermarket lights are assessed against Queensland's lighting requirements. If your lights are functioning correctly, are the right colour for their position (white/amber at front, red at rear), are properly aimed and secured, and meet the relevant standards — they pass. LED upgrades, custom headlights and auxiliary lights that comply with the requirements are fine. If a light isn't compliant, our inspector will clearly explain what needs to change.
Mirrors are assessed on whether they provide adequate rear visibility as required by the QLVIM. If your aftermarket or custom mirrors are properly mounted, give you clear visibility to the rear, and aren't likely to cause injury in a fall — they're compliant. Bar-end mirrors, custom stems and non-standard mirror shapes are commonly seen and often pass without issue. Our inspector checks function and safety, not whether mirrors are original spec.
If any safety-related items need attention before the certificate can be issued, you'll receive a clear advisory report detailing exactly what needs to be rectified. Queensland law gives you 14 days from the date of inspection to get those items sorted. Once they're addressed, our inspector returns for a small sign-off fee — not the full price again. Since we don't do repairs, our assessments are entirely unbiased.
Yes! Booking through our online portal is the cheapest way to secure your motorcycle safety certificate. Online bookings receive an exclusive discount compared to phone bookings. The process takes under 2 minutes — check your postcode, choose your time, and confirm. Your discounted rate is locked in automatically.
No — we regularly complete inspections unattended. Leave the keys at a disclosed location and arrange payment beforehand. Your report arrives by email the moment we're done. For pre-purchase inspections, we go to the seller's location on your behalf — you don't need to be there at all.
To transfer a motorcycle's registration in Queensland you'll need a current safety certificate, the completed Transfer of Registration Form F3520, and payment of the relevant transfer fee. Full details are on the TMR Transferring Ownership page. We can provide your safety certificate same-day so the sale isn't delayed.
Yes. Queensland Transport can issue significant fines for offering or advertising a registered motorcycle for sale without a valid safety certificate. The fine applies to the seller and simply isn't worth the risk. Book your inspection before listing — we can often come same-day.

Vehicle: The motor vehicle presented for inspection.
Inspection Report: The document issued detailing the findings of the vehicle inspection.
Safety Certificate: The certificate issued upon successful completion of a safety inspection, indicating the vehicle meets the minimum safety standards required for registration in Queensland.
Booked Appointment: The scheduled time and date for the provision of Services.
QLVIM: Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual — the governing rule book for safety certificate inspections in Queensland.
2. Scope of Services
We will perform a comprehensive safety inspection of your Vehicle in accordance with the current Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) standards and requirements as detailed in the QLVIM.
The inspection is a visual and operational assessment of the Vehicle's readily accessible components as required by DTMR regulations and the QLVIM. It is not a diagnostic service, a pre-purchase inspection, or a guarantee of the Vehicle's future reliability.
The Safety Certificate attests that the Vehicle met the minimum safety standards at the time of inspection. It does not warrant the Vehicle's ongoing roadworthiness, nor does it imply the Vehicle is free from all defects or suitable for a particular purpose.
Any advice or recommendations we provide beyond the mandatory inspection requirements are given in good faith but do not constitute a guarantee.
3. Your Responsibilities
You warrant that you are the legal owner of the Vehicle or have express permission from the owner to present it for inspection.
You must ensure the Vehicle is presented in a reasonably clean condition, free from excessive dirt or debris that may hinder the inspection.
You must provide accurate and complete information about the Vehicle, including its history, any known defects, and your contact details.
You are responsible for removing any personal belongings or valuables from the Vehicle prior to the inspection. We accept no liability for loss or damage to personal items left in the Vehicle.
The Vehicle must be presented in a condition ready for inspection and a road test. This includes, but is not limited to, having a charged battery, inflated tyres, functioning exterior lights, adequate fuel, and a clean interior so our inspectors are comfortable. The vehicle must be free of any loose items or unsecured loads that could cause a potential issue during a road test.
4. Fees and Payment
The fee for the Services will be quoted to you before the inspection begins.
Full payment is required before any inspection works commence.
We accept prepayments via electronic transfer only.
We charge re-inspection fees, which are subject to change. These fees will be advised at the time of booking the re-inspection appointment and differ with location, specific time chosen and other works required.
5. Vehicle Damage and Liability
5.1 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be held responsible for any damage incurred to your Vehicle before, during, or after the inspection process. This includes, but is not limited to, accidental damage resulting from a vehicle collision, damage sustained during a brake test, or any other unforeseen circumstances. We accept no liability for any associated financial loss, including repair costs, towing fees, or loss of income, that may arise from damage to the Vehicle during or after the inspection.
5.2 Inherent Defects and Pre-Existing Conditions
You acknowledge that inspections involve the manipulation, operation, and testing of various Vehicle components, some of which may be old, worn, or have pre-existing, non-obvious damage. We are not responsible for any damage that arises from pre-existing conditions, wear and tear, latent defects, the normal process of conducting the inspection, or the failure of components at the end of their service life.
5.3 Mechanical Failures During Inspection
In the unlikely event of a mechanical failure of a Vehicle component occurring during the inspection, you agree that we are not liable for the cost of repair or replacement. Such failures often indicate an underlying issue or the component being at the end of its serviceable life.
5.4 Operational Damage
You acknowledge that the inspection involves the operation and movement of the Vehicle, including raising it or driving it for a road test. We are not responsible for any damage that occurs during these operational aspects.
5.5 Reporting Damage
Any concerns regarding damage to your Vehicle must be reported to us immediately upon collection and in writing within 24 hours. Failure to do so may affect our ability to investigate your claim.
5.6 Exclusion of Consequential Loss
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of revenue, or loss of use of your Vehicle.
6. Safety Certificate Issuance
A Safety Certificate will only be issued if the Vehicle meets all required safety standards as per DTMR regulations and the QLVIM.
If your Vehicle requires attention following inspection, we will provide you with an Inspection Report detailing the specific criteria that need rectification.
You have a specified period (currently 14 days in Queensland) to rectify the identified items and present the Vehicle for re-inspection. If the Vehicle is not re-inspected within this period, a new full inspection fee will apply.
We reserve the right to refuse to issue a Safety Certificate if, in our professional opinion, the Vehicle does not meet the required safety standards, or if there is any doubt about its identity or compliance.
7. Appointments and Cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule a Booked Appointment, you must provide us with notice. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation or rescheduling fee of up to 100% of the quoted service fee to cover administrative costs and lost income from the reserved time slot.
If a Vehicle is not ready for inspection as per Clause 3.5, we reserve the right to charge a fee of up to 100% of the booking amount to cover lost revenue, scheduling disruption, and administrative costs.
For a booking created outside our service areas by deceiving our booking system, a fee of up to $55 will be deducted from any refunded amount to cover administrative costs, transaction fees, and lost revenue.
8. Privacy
We collect, use, and store your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. This information is used for providing the Services, record-keeping, and complying with legal obligations.
You acknowledge and agree that we will share your Vehicle's information and your personal data with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) for the purpose of processing the official safety inspection outcome. This is a mandatory step for the issuance or refusal of a Safety Certificate.

Entire Agreement (12): These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Tick It Roadworthies concerning the Services and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
Force Majeure (13): We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from any cause beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, governmental acts, or outage of online certificate issuance systems.
Dispute Resolution (14): In the event of a dispute, you agree to first contact Tick It Roadworthies directly to seek resolution through good faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, both parties agree to consider alternative dispute resolution methods before pursuing legal action.
